Brasitas
Fairfield County Weekly writes, “Last year we asked you to vote for the Best Latin Restaurant, and this year we asked for votes on the Best Brazilian Restaurant. Both times you picked Brasitas, the cozy Latin restaurant on Main Street in Stamford. Which just goes to show that either they need to change their name, or we need to change the category. We’re told that there’s exactly one dish at Brasitas that can be said to be explicitly “Brazilian”–damn, it must be good! As the folks there remind us, Brasitas’ menu is far more inclusive than one country. There’s a sirloin steak from Argentina; Colombian chorizo with white-market lima beans sautéed in a cherry wine sauce, and Salvadoran corn cake topped with sautéed shrimp and chorizo in lobster saffron sauce. Think of it as a culinary tour of the entire South American continent–Brazil included, if only in passing.”
Winner of “Best Brazilian Restaurant” according to the 2007 Fairfield County Weekly Best of Reader’s Poll.

This pan-Latin American eatery may have plenty of fine, healthy food, but our reviewer found the salads to be some of the best selections. Lightly dressed watercress and house salads with mix-ins like mangoes and fresh lemon juice, it’s easy to eat well when food is this delicious.
