Stamford CT Fireworks 2009

Mayor Dannel P. Malloy announced today that this year’s annual fireworks celebration is scheduled for Friday, July 3, 2009, with a rain date of Sunday, July 5, 2009. There will be festivities prior to the fireworks, along with a DJ playing music starting at 6 p.m. until the display begins. Best viewing of the display will be from Cummings Beach and West Beach.

The fireworks, presented by Bay Fireworks, are scheduled to begin at approximately 9:15 p.m. with music and festivities beginning at 6:00 p.m. at Cummings Park.

Please note that Cummings Park will be closed to vehicular traffic at 7:00 p.m. and no vessels may be launched from the West Beach Boat Ramp after 6:30 p.m.

The Stamford Police Department has issued a traffic advisory noting impending traffic interruptions and changes during the event. All citizens, especially those residing in the Shippan area, should be aware that the following applies:

- RESIDENTS ONLY (with ID) will be allowed onto Shippan Avenue south of the Magee Avenue/Harbor Drive/Shippan Avenue intersection after 8:00PM.
- After 9 p.m. NO VEHICLES at all will be allowed onto Shippan Avenue south of this intersection.

Beginning at 8:30PM:
- Shippan Avenue will be One Way Northbound between Magee Avenue and Elm Street.
- Elm Street will be One Way Northbound between Shippan Avenue and Tresser Boulevard.
- Magee Avenue will be One Way Northbound.
- Jefferson Street will be One Way Westbound.

Restricted parking will be enforced in the Shippan Avenue area.

A contingent of police officers will be assigned to traffic control during and after the event.
