According to Fairfield County Weekly, “Readers in western Fairfield County will be happy to know that Layla’s Falafel, which was picked last year as best Middle Eastern restaurant, has branched out from Black Rock to Stamford. Dishes are rooted in what’s known as the Levant geographic area–southern Turkey, Syria, Lebanon, Palestine and Israel–and, perhaps sensing that the white bread and cottage cheese crowd in the area might flinch at funky falafel, Layla’s has an extensive website that lays out the menu choices and what they’re all about–falafel, hummus, tabbouleh, babaganoush, hand-rolled stuffed grape leaves, not to mention grilled chicken shawarma, chicken, shish, and kafte kabob, and specialties ranging from pickled turnips to okra.”
