Nice place for kids. The bar has good rep, but the restaurant is poor. The food is not a focus of this place’s management.
This was our first visit. I had a steak and my wife had a prime rib. Both were dry and chewy, clearly they had been in the frig for a long time, or frozen. The rest of the food was pretty good; dumplings, mac and cheese for the kids, Salmon for one of our friends.
It was a Friday, and there are big signs al over the place stating it was Retro night, and there were free tastings of Absolut flavored vodkas after nine. When we asked the bartender he said ‘no that’s on Thursday’. “Excuse me, but look at the big sign over your right shoulder!”
“Oh, well they are not here tonight.”
We never did find out who “they” were, but were refused any samples regardless of all the signs. When we asked the bartender for a manager his response was “I’m one of them.” That may be true because he is the first bartender I’ve ever seen that had no clue what a Rusty Nail was.
After I told him, he said “Oh we don’t have Drambuie.”
“Excuse me, but see that bottle over your right shoulder?”
So, perhaps a well known bar for all the gimmicks they run, but a poorly run restaurant with sub-standard food and clueless bartenders.
